First of all, I spent my vacation in Manila with my sister and my relatives on mom's side. My parents decided to stay in Iloilo.
This school break was filled with loads of exciting adventures and experiences.
The day after I arrived, we already went out to try the restaurant where my aunt currently works, Papa John's Pizza. It was very delicious. It was different from other pizza chains because they used fresh ingredients which gave the taste a refreshing twist. Plus, I loved their cheese sticks. On this day, my sister and I also bonded with my six-year-old cousin. We played at TimeZone and went around Robinson's Galleria while waiting for our aunt to finish with work.
The day after that, my grandma's brother invited us to go with him to Duty Free. So we did. It was very tiring going around the mall. Plus, there were so much people that it was pretty difficult to move around. We mostly bought gifts and food. After an entire afternoon of roaming around, my sister and I went to Sunday mass. After that, we visited this bazaar beside the Church where we bought some shirts, belts, and gifts.
The next day, my other aunt picked us up and brought us to Greenbelt because she wanted us to attend her office's Christmas Party later that night. She had us tag along and help her while she ran some errands and last-minute gift buying. She then joined her friends for another party while my sister and I went off and did some shopping. After spending the entire afternoon walking around and buying stuff, we went to the restaurant where the Christmas Party would be held, Tender Bob's. My cousins arrived and a little later, so did my aunt and her office mates and employees. That night was super fun! They had a program and loads of games hosted by this hilarious comedian who still has me giggling now whenever I remember his antics.
The next day, my mom told us to attend this birthday party of her friend's daughter. So we did and we met up with my sister's ninangs. We even brought my six-year-old and two-year-old cousins to represent us in the party because it was a children's party.
Some days, if we had nothing to do, my sister and I would go to my cousin's house. Usually, we'd even sleep over. My grandma's house, where we were staying was very near so it wasn't a great hassle to go back and pick up our stuff.
One day, my two aunts brought us to Greenbelt 5 to try this new restaurant, ToastBox. It was very similar to KopiRoti and it was actually pretty expensive. After that, we went around the area. We walked to Glorietta, passing through Landmark. We bought these delicious crinkles to be given away as gifts and we ate at this self-service frozen yogurt joint, Tutti Frutti. Then, we walked to SM where we were supposed to do a little grocery shopping for our grandma. But we weren't able to do so because we had to leave early because my uncle needed the car and the driver to attend this event.
On Christmas Eve, we went to my great grandmother's house just as we traditionally did every year. We ate dinner then went to the Church where the Christmas Mass was held by our own relative. After the mass, we went back to the house and had the gift-giving accompanied by some late night treats. We went home after that where we opened the gifts piled up under the Christmas tree.
On Christmas Day, I wanted to sleep in after last night's tiring happenings but my grandma woke us all up because we were invited to my mom's cousin's house for lunch. So we went there and had a delicious meal. After eating, I ended up watching a DVD of Les Miserables In Concert which was absolutely breathtaking. We went home after that and we all took siesta to prepare for another Christmas Party that night which we also attended every year. Here, we mingled with our my mom's cousins. There was a twist with this year's event because one of my uncles performed an amazing magic show plus some of our relatives, who rarely came to this event, arrived. We came home a bit later than we usually did which was a good sign because it simply meant that this year's event was much more fun than that of the previous years, which was true.
The next day, my aunt, my sister, and I went to SM to finally do last week's grocery shopping. After that, we attended Sunday Mass where we ran into my other aunt who invited us to dinner. We ate at this restaurant called Trinity near Manila Bay so obviously, we ate seafood. Lots and lots of seafood.
After such tiring few days, I was happy that we had nothing lined up to do because this was my chance to rest.
After two days of doing nothing, my aunt called up and told me that she and my uncle were going to Bacolod. So she wanted my sister and I to stay at their house with my cousins for a few days. So we did. It was really fun!
On the 30th of December, we attended our yearly family reunion. It was themed 70s/retro so we had to wear costumes. My aunt, cousin, sister, and I all won for best in costume. I think we caught everyone's attentions because of our bright and colorful wigs. We had tons of fun games and programs. It was very tiring but all worth it.
The next day, my aunt and uncle arrived. So my sister and I went back to my grandma's house to prepare for our New Year's Celebration. At midnight, we lit the firecrackers and ate our New Year's meal which consisted of grilled pork and crabs.
I woke up pretty late the next morning. We attended mass in the afternoon and after that we left to go to my dad's sister's house for a New Year's dinner. We got lost on the way there. We spent the night with some of our cousins. We went home pretty late already.
The next day, I wanted to sleep in but my grandma woke us up because she said we had to go to the cemetery. So we did. Afterward, we ate lunch at Toho, a restaurant where we always ate as a family. After lunch, my grandma, aunt, sister, and I went to PowerPlant Mall at Rockwell. We did some shopping while my grandma went to the salon. We attended Sunday mass then ate an early dinner after. That night, I packed my stuff. I picked up my cousins too, because they wanted to spend time with me before I left. But of course, we had to bring them back home because one of them also had class the next day. I was supposed to sleep early because I had to wake up at 2:30am and I decided that I'll go to school. So I had to have enough rest. But since it was my last night, we decided to make the most out of it. I slept at around 1:00am already.
I woke up at 2:30am and went to the airport. I couldn't sleep on the plane which was very unfortunate. We arrived Iloilo where my parents picked my grandma and me up. I dressed up in the car and they dropped me off at school.
That ended my break. I was back to reality.
